With Christmas just around the corner, it seems everybody is pinching the pennies and looking for ways to save money. Chatterbox understands that this time of year always puts extra pressure on the purse strings, and so yesterday we hosted our very own Money Advice Day in conjunction with Northwards Housing, designed to help local people to take the first steps to financial independence.
Funded by a generous grant from the Mind Your Money project, the event gave local people a chance to speak to the experts about everything from how to save energy this winter, to inexpensive recipes for the whole family to enjoy.
The day was a fantastic success, with around 50 people coming along to enjoy the free buffet courtesy of the Place Cafe, and receive personalised advice from people in the know.
Delegates from Citizens’ Advice, Northwards Housing, the Wellbeing Centre, and GMP were on hand all day to offer advice and support….We even had a visit from Sid the (Loan) Shark, who came along to warn us about the dangers of using illegal money lenders!
On behalf of everyone here at Chatterbox, I would like to thank everybody who attended, and extend a special thanks to Jayne Hollins and Vicky Mulvaney from Mind Your Money, whose support is greatly appreciated.
